A gym with a twist

Today mom finally made it to a gym. Hallelujah! A colleague of hers is a member and offered mom to join her in a class to check it out.

At a first glance, there was nothing extraordinary about the gym. It is a very classy gym, one of the biggest if not the biggest one in Plovdiv, filled with super-body-conscious people in very expensive training outfits. Mom walked into the room proudly in her shaggy old-fashioned sweatshirt.

The class was aerobics, and started with a typical choreographic routine. There were only women in the class. At some point, two guys walked in, and started following the choreography. There were some glances between the teacher and the guys and mom assumed that they are trainers as well. They left a few minutes later. The class went on. Then they walked in again, only this time in a leather, very poor (in terms of fabric) outfit. They jumped on the teacher's platform and proceeded to do a strip show.

At this point mom's only question was whether this is how all gyms and all aerobics classes are in Bulgaria. If so, she would have to get a subscription to the gym... but her colleague solved the mystery pretty soon. She said that she had no idea this would happen and was in shock (note: not an unpleasant shock). After taking off their pants (nothing else, don't be scandalized, my American readers) they "covered" themselves with towels, got down from the platform, and started randomly grabbing some trainees to dance. And yes, mom was one of them.

Then mom made a connection between the balloons she saw around the room and the show. Maybe it was some kind of celebration? Or advertisement? It is still not clear. Probably it was both, because after the show the guys handed out cards with their contact info and appearance schedule, while in the reception area there was cake for the gym's 5th-year anniversary.

So after this interlude, the class resumed as usual. The choreography, of course, went downhill from that point on, as the trainees had some trouble focusing. I wonder why...

I also wonder whether there are gyms for dogs around here...
