Mom had to go downtown for submitting papers to the Greek IRS. Fun! Fortunately she settled her affairs at the first visit - and that is a rare phenomenon when dealing with the Greek IRS. So she's happy now.

Hot September
September 8th today, and a steady 31C degrees (that's around 88F, people!). In case you're wondering, it IS TOO hot for September, even in Greece.
Mom had to go downtown for submitting papers to the Greek IRS. Fun! Fortunately she settled her affairs at the first visit - and that is a rare phenomenon when dealing with the Greek IRS. So she's happy now.
The center of the city is all dug up with construction sites for the metro. Many bus stops have disappeared, so mom ended up at the train station and had to walk a few blocks. On her way to IRS she passed through Thessaloniki's Chinatown, a very recent phenomenon. Mom loves Chinatowns. Unfortunately, most Greeks are not crazy about the Chinese immigrants, but not less crazy than they are about the Albanians, Yugoslavians, Georgians, or any other non-prestigious immigrant group. What else is new? Throughout the history of humanity, immigrants have taken the blame for everything that goes wrong in a given society. Same with Greece. If only Greece could turn back to the glorious times of purity! Which times of purity? Don't ask me, I'm just a dog! There must have been such times, if everybody misses them so much.
