Back in Thessaloniki, yet again

Sorry for the long silence. We did not forget anyone, though. Mom was very happy to be able to find many little messages from her old friends in the U.S. and her new friends in Bulgaria. Many people are asking about me, even! It's really touching. Love you all!

Mom and I spent a few days in Pyrgadikia, Halkidiki with V and M and some other friends visiting occasionally. Pyrgadikia is a small village that got away from brutal developers, so far. It's small, quiet and beautiful, as you see in the picture. The beach is two minutes away, so every time mom took me out for a walk, I went for a short swim. That's life! I could definitely get used to that. The only problem was that it was too hot for me so I spent most of my day inside.

The last few days were even quieter. Most Greeks get back to work after August 15th, so yesterday the village was almost empty. I didn't mind at all.

Mom took long naps, long walks with me, and long swims in the evening just before dark. She loves this time of the evening for swimming. She didn't even mind the jelly fish, which are many and huge! A friend says that they come with the boats, since Pyrgadikia is a small port. But for the most part they are harmless, if you don't have the bad luck to touch their legs.

We came back to Thessaloniki last night. Neither of us is very happy about that. Even though mom spent most of her life in Thessaloniki, and I spent the first three years of my life, now it feels too suffocating, especially after everybody came back from vacation. Too much noise, too many cars, not enough parks. What to do? Patience. We'll be here for a few more days and then back to Plovdiv.
