Good things still happen!

Light in the end of the tunnel! We arrived in Plovdiv around 8am this morning, after a long and painful ride (painful because it was overnight, and because I couldn't resist making a mess in the car. Fortunately by now Mom is so organized that no harm was done).

Our driver is a friend of Mom's friend Kravv in Philadelphia. He picked us up, drove us to Plovdiv, and dropped us off to a friend of his. The friend then drove us around, helped Mom with everything she could think of, cell phone, exchange, translating for the apartment, and much more. Then he left after he promised to find us a ride to Tryavna on Sunday. Mom is speechless. After the adventures of this past week, it's hard for her to believe this kindness.

So, here we are. Of all the other options, we settled at the apartment that Mom had found on the internet. If you take a look at the website, you'll see what you get. Our apartment is tiny, but SO cute! It was TWO balconies, yes sir, so that I can enjoy the view at all times of the day without getting fried in the sun. It also has TWO skylights and plenty of windows. This is very good, because Mom needs the sunlight especially in the winter.

But the best part so far is the family who owns and manages the building. Not only did they not have a problem with me staying in the apartment, but they also don't mind me hanging around either. As soon as Mom got some rest they took us around the neighborhood and showed us some main places of interest (grocery stores, pharmacies, shops). Then they invited us for dinner - yes, me included! They are very eager to help and very pleasant. The young owner, 12-year-old V. speaks some English and the father speaks German, so between the two Mom manages to communicate. Until she starts learning Bulgarian, at least.

On the less bright side, my situation is not improving, in spite of all the different drugs. But now, at least, Mom feels a little better because we are not a burden to anyone. Until Sunday, that is, that we're going to Tryavna for Mom's seminar. Bah...I can't wait to settle down somewhere!
