Plovdiv Mall

Yes. indeed. The moment we've all been waiting for. Plovdiv finally has a mall.

What does this have to do with mom, you ask. Well, it has to do with the things mom does for friendship. As it turns out, Goldie is a big shopper and she.had.to.see.the.mall. And, she wanted company. So mom did go to the mall, trying not to thing too much about the irony in that she came all the way to Plovdiv, Bulgaria and still couldn't escape malls...

To top it off, Goldie wanted a perfect end to a perfect day: lunch at KFC. And yes, mom, the former strict vegetarian, did go to KFC.

It was all worth it, though. Goldie was like a 5-year-old in a toy store. She was 'wowed' by everything, even the shopping bags. She moaned while munching at KFC chicken fillets, "the best chicken in the world" (mom did manage to keep her mouth shut, mind you). She was happy. And mom felt that a few hours at the mall was a small sacrifice for a friend. At least for one time...

I remember when Bulgarian state stores sparkled with rows and rows and rows of one product -- and nothing else. It is nice they have malls now!
