Wrapping up

Last few days in Plovdiv and it's crazy. Mom's ATM card finally arrived on the 22nd of June. How's that for overnight service? UPS determined that the address was incomplete and therefore decided to keep the letter in the comfort of their own office. Mom had to go and pick it up since an address correction would probably take another 2 weeks for UPS to process. Bottom line, UPS is the same all over the world. Just like cab drivers, a universal species. When possible, stay away from them.

Since mom had no cash for over two weeks, lots of things got postponed till last minute, including my vet visit. Hopefully we'll get that over with tomorrow. Our landlady came yesterday, I was confined in the bedroom, safely protected from the unpleasant talk. Long story short, mom got no money back from the deposit, and only a partial refund for the refrigerator. Not good, but the best she could get under the circumstances. It's amazing how difficult negotiations can be when you have to rely on someone else to translate for you. She can't wait to be back in a place where she has her own voice and no need for intermediaries.

Last night mom took out the cupping practitioner and his partner to a farewell and thank-you dinner for all the great care they provided to both of us. Wonderful people - the way health practitioners should be . Mom will miss them lots.

If all goes well, we'll leave for Greece on Monday, and will go straight to the shore. That translates to lots of baths for me but no internet access. It is possible, dear readers, that my next post will be from good ole Philly. If so, wish me luck and an uneventful flight home!
